A taste of Baseball - Dunedin Blue Jays

The GSE team, together with our host families, attended a local baseball game.

The Dunedin Blue Jays played against the Jupiter Hammerheads.

Upon arrival, we were treated to hot dogs, drinks and a corporate suite to watch the game.

We received a wonderful and warm welcome from the crowd when the announcer let the patrons know that they had visitors from Australia.

Mary and Will were selected to compete against each other in the traditional 4th innings chicken catching competition.

The crowd roared with laughter and enjoyment watching the two fierce competitors battle for who would be named the champion chicken catcher. In the end, it was a fitting draw, with two chickens a piece!

It was a really fun and entertaining night!

  1. Chicken catching??!! What a unique tradition. Definitely should bring that back with you, just the thing to liven up the fifth day of a test match. Can you imagine the TV ratings???!!
Glad to here you all arrived safely, and you are all wearing uniform, hopefully that means your luggage made it as well...
    Enjoy yourselves and best wishes.
