US Coast Guard, Clearwater, Florida, May 18t, Wed


The team was treated to a personal tour of Florida's US Coast Guard by James Morrow & Adam Kozatia (US Coast Guard Pilots). Jim is a previous GSE team member who visited Chile.
The US Coast Guard mainly performs rescue and border control operations.

James & Adam gave us a guided tour of the  C-130 airplane and H-60 rescue helicopter. We also recieved a detailed description from a "Swimmer" ( the person that jumps into the water to rescue people).





James and Adam are located are the largest and busiest Air Station in the Coast Guard operation. In addition to the local area, our Area of Operations includes the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean basin, and the Bahamas. The Coast Guard constantly maintain deployed H-60s for Operations Bahamas, Turks and Caicos (OPBAT), a joint DEA, Coast Guard, Bahamian Turks and Caicos anti-drug and migrant smuggling operation in the Bahamas. The US Coast Guard of Clearwater, Florida also have C-130s deployed in support of JIATF operations in the Caribbean. This is done while simultaneously maintaining a constant Bravo Zero Search and Rescue response at home in Florida.


Air Station Clearwater, Florida is located on the NW side of the St Petersburg - Clearwater Int'l Airport. We are the largest air station in the Coast Guard and support a variety of missions with both C-130 and H-60 aircraft. We also have an award-winning galley, medical clinic, exchange and housing office that service hundreds of Coast Guard personnel assigned to units in the greater Tampa Bay Area.
